What a Dad Does!
"And he shall turn and reconcile the hearts of the [estranged] fathers to the [ungodly] children, and the hearts of the [rebellious] children to [the piety of] their fathers [a reconciliation produced by repentance of the ungodly], lest I come and smite the land with a curse and a ban of utter destruction." Malachi 4:6 Amplified
Jesus is coming soon. Notice that this verse doesn’t say that “he” will turn the hearts of fathers to their children. It says “he” will turn the hearts of fathers to children.
Am I letting the Spirit of God turn my heart to children? Not just my children but all children? Do I really love children like God does? Matthew 19:14 Have you ever thought about how many of the problems in our modern wicked society are due to fathers not loving children (e.g., abortion, pornography, failing schools, divorce, climbing the corporate ladder and many others)? Notice each of these issues have a direct connection to a dad’s ambivalence to children.
What is my attitude to the snotty nosed kids down the street? Have my children noticed my lack of love for other kids. Does it send a message to my kids that I don’t really care about people? Could this be the reason that I don’t have my children’s heart?
God not only charges me to love my kids but all kids. If I will allow Him to do this, He WILL turn the hearts of my children to me. God, teach me to love children.
THIS IS WHAT A WISE DAD DOES!
