Dads (and future dads),
I trust God spoke to you last week from His Word and you were able to put into practice what He asked. Last Tuesday morning I read Luke 6:46-47 "Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like..building a house with a stone foundation. To put it succinctly, Jesus says, if you call me Lord, then three things will be true: 1) you will come to Me, 2) you will listen to My Words & 3) you will act upon them.
Now on to our "What a Dad does" installment:
"Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, so that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your sons and your grandsons.” Deuteronomy 4:9 NASB
Ask yourself, “Is this true for me? Am I giving heed to my soul? That means listening to my soul…my mind, will and emotions. You know that some of the most influential things you hear every day are the things you say to yourself. Are my mind, will and emotions declaring to me the glory of God and the truth of Scripture? Have I taken time today to remember where I’ve come from…to remember the grace of God and forgiveness of Jesus Christ? Have I done anything today to help my children (and grandchildren) know this awesome God?” Is this the burning passion of my heart....am I telling ME to make sure this job gets done every single day? And even if I don't have any physical children, am I making "them" known to my spiritual children and grandchildren?
This is what a persistent dad does!
